Ingredients

To make s’mores banana pudding from scratch, you’ll need the following ingredients:

S'mores banana pudding labeled ingredients on a wooden table.
  • The bananas should be slightly ripe or just ripe enough. Avoid using overripe bananas! We’re looking for bananas with a bright yellow color and very few brown spots on it. Overripe bananas will brown quickly and become too mushy when mixed with the other ingredients.
  • I use cold whole milk for the pudding mixture. You can opt to use plant-based milk, but make sure to use half the amount required for the recipe, or else it won’t set properly.
  • I like to use the zero sugar version of the Jell-O Instant Chocolate Pudding. I like my banana pudding quite creamy, but if you want a thicker texture, use the larger packet!
  • Make sure to thaw the Cool Whip before using. Same with the Jell-O, I like to use the zero-sugar one, too!
  • I recommend solely using mini marshmallows rather than fluff. Although I use fluff in the recipe video, the fluff weeps and releases a bit of liquid over time (especially if you store it longer than a day!)
  • You can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract/paste, or a pinch of salt to further enhance the sweet banana flavor!

For the full list of ingredients and measurements, see the recipe card below.

💡 Tip

  • Decorate with lightly toasted marshmallows! For a full-on s’mores experience, you can scatter a few marshmallows on top and use a blow torch to lightly toast them. Do this right before serving.

Step 4: Add crushed graham crackers on top. Cover chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours before eating, so all the flavors combine. Serve chilled and enjoy! For extra ~pizazz~, feel free to add a few marshmallows on top and use a blowtorch to lightly toast them!

  • optional mix-ins: vanilla extract/paste, pinch of salt optional

Toppings:

  • 3-5 large bananas sliced
  • 2 cups (g) mini marshmallows* see notes
  • 3-4 sleeves (420 g) Graham crackers you may not need all of them!

Instructions

Make the pudding:

  • In a large mixing bowl, add 2 cups (480 g) whole milk (cold) and 1 packet (28 g) Jell-O instant chocolate pudding. Whisk until combined and let sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
  • Fold in 1 container (226 g) Cool Whip until smooth.

Assemble the banana pudding:

  • In your serving container, add a layer of graham crackers, top with sliced bananas and mini marshmallows, and then spread an even layer of the pudding.
Repeat until you use all of your ingredients, with the top layer ending in pudding.
  • Add crushed graham crackers on top. Cover chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours before eating, so all the flavors combine.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy! For extra ~pizazz~, feel free to add a few marshmallows on top and use a blowtorch to lightly toast them!

Notes

Although I use marshmallow fluff in my video, I recommend solely using mini marshmallows. If the s’mores pudding is stored in the fridge longer than a day, the fluff will weep and release liquid.
