❤️ Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • It only takes a few minutes, and is the perfect morning drink or afternoon pick-me-up.
  • Matcha lattes at cafés and bakeries are $$$$$$. Although I enjoy treating myself to a nice matcha latte, it can get quite expensive! Making it at home is much more wallet-friendly AND customizable 😆.
  • It’s super versatile. You can swap out different milks or sweeteners. Want a maple matcha latte? Use maple as your sweetener. Not feeling the banana? Try my creamy strawberry cold foam instead!

Ingredients

To make banana matcha latte from scratch, you’ll need the following ingredients:

Labeled banana cold foam ingredients laid out on wooden table.
  • I like to use culinary grade matcha powder for lattes, since ceremonial matcha is best enjoyed as a simple tea.
  • The matcha powder is mixed with hot water until smooth, and then sweetened with sugar.
  • The matcha mixture is best enjoyed with plant-based milk. This is because dairy milk has proteins that interfere with absorbing the antioxidants of the matcha! Oat milk is my favorite because of how light and creamy it is.
  • For the cold foam, I use ripe bananas, even better if you have the overripe ones. Those with slight browning on skin are perfect! This ensures you get a stronger, sweeter banana flavor.
  • You can use any sweetener you prefer, such as granulated sugar, brown sugar, or alternative sugar. If using a liquid sweetener like honey or maple syrup, you will need to mix the ingredients a little bit longer.

For the full list of ingredients and measurements, see the recipe card below.

💡Tip

  • For extra banana flavor, feel free to use banana milk (pre-made or homemade) instead of plain milk! If you want to make it yourself, simply blend a banana with milk until smooth.

Storage

I recommend enjoying the latte fresh, since the matcha and banana will oxidize and not taste as good.
