If you want a slight licorice flavor, you can also add a bit of ground anise or fennel.

How to Make Homemade Apple Pie Spice Mix

Ways I Enjoy My Apple Pie Spice Blend

  1. Pies and crisps: 1.5-2.0 teaspoons per pie!
  2. Breads and muffins: 2 teaspoons per batch
  3. Applesauce or apple butter: 1 teaspoon per pound of apples
  4. Lattes: 0.5-1 teaspoon per cup
  5. Oatmeal: 0.5 teaspoon per serving

Storage

Store apple spice blend in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 years.

Ingredients 

  • 4 tablespoons (32 g) ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ teaspoons (3 g) ground nutmeg
  • 1 ½ teaspoons (3 g) ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon (2 g) ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon (2 g) ground cardamom

Instructions 

    Make sure to use fresh spices for longer-term storage!
  • In a small to medium storage container, add all of the ingredients: 4 tablespoons (32 g) ground cinnamon, 1 ½ teaspoons (3 g) ground nutmeg, 1 ½ teaspoons (3 g) ground ginger, 1 teaspoon (2 g) ground allspice, and 1 teaspoon (2 g) ground cardamom.
  • Whisk to combine, or close container and shake.
    Keep sealed in a dry spot at room temperature for up to 2 years. Enjoy!

Notes

Want a slight licorice flavor? Add 0.25 teaspoon of ground anise or 0.5 teaspoon of ground fennel!
