What is Matcha?

Matcha is a powder made from ground green tea leaves and is commonly added to drinks and desserts. It’s earthy, slightly sweet, and rich, and has been part of Japanese tea culture for centuries. If you’d like to learn more about matcha, check out my ultimate matcha guide!

❤️ Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • It only takes a few minutes! Simply mix hot water and matcha, then add that to a pot with melted white chocolate, milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
  • It’s super versatile. Instead of white chocolate, you can use milk or dark chocolate. You can add extracts or spices as well. I topped mine with marshmallow fluff, but you can also add cheese foam or whipped cream!

Equipment

Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon (2 g) vanilla paste or extract; optional
  • pinch of salt optional
  • topping of choice whipped cream, marshmallows, marshmallow fluff, etc.

Assemble:

  • In your serving mug, add matcha hot chocolate. Add topping of choice, whether it's marshmallows, marshmallow fluff, or whipped cream. Enjoy!
