My homemade chai sugar is the perfect for topping oatmeal or porridge, blondies, buttered toast, and more! It's also great to stir into teas and lattes. To make it, simply add all of the ingredients to a container, shake, and use to your heart's desire!
Make sure to use fresh spices for longer-term storage!
If using pre-made chai spice blend:
In a small to medium storage container, add 1 cup granulated sugar and 3 tablespoons homemade chai spice blend.
Whisk to combine, or close container and shake. Keep sealed in a dry spot at room temperature for up to 2 years. Enjoy!
If making chai spice blend from scratch:
In a small to medium storage container, add 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon, 2 ¾ teaspoons ground cardamom, 1 ¾ teaspoons ground ginger, ⅔ teaspoon ground nutmeg, ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, and ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves.
Whisk to combine, or close container and shake. Keep sealed in a dry spot at room temperature for up to 2 years. Enjoy!
Notes
Some ways to enjoy my chai sugar:
In lattes and teas. I like swapping out regular sugar with chai sugar for extra flavor, especially for black tea.
On bread! Try spreading softened butter onto bread, sprinkling on some chai sugar, then heating it up in a toaster oven or air fryer!
Roll cookie dough balls in it right before baking.
