Einspanner is a Viennese drink, featuring hot espresso topped with a generous layer of whipped cream. It's simple, delicious, and only takes a few minutes to make! Einspanner has been recently trending in the USA, with cafes serving them hot or iced, and in many different flavors, like matcha, banana, black sesame, etc.!
In a small mixing bowl, add ¼ cup heavy cream, ½-2 tablespoons powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional). Use whisk to whip until soft peaks. You can also use a frother.Taste and add more powdered sugar to your liking. If it's too thick, stir in a splash of heavy cream.
Assemble einspanner:
In your serving cup, add 1-2 shots espresso. Generously dollop on whipped cream. Dust with cocoa powder (optional), and enjoy!

Traditional einspanners feature hot espresso and cold whipped cream, but many cafes sell them hot or cold! Feel free to add various sweeteners to the espresso or whipped cream! For example, add brown sugar, agave, or flavor the whipped cream with matcha powder or strawberry powder.
